During my time in Sri Lanka, something small turned into something kind of beautiful. Myself and two friends—Nirith and Halith—started feeding the local street dogs in our area. Nothing dramatic. Just a regular 6PM ritual. Every evening, without fail.
In Sri Lanka, it’s common for people to leave leftover food out for the dogs. It’s a quiet, communal kindness. But we made it a bit more deliberate—same time, same spots. And before long, they started showing up like clockwork. 6PM? There they were. Tails wagging, eyes bright, waiting patiently. No barking. No drama. Just trust.

We got to know them—quirks, personalities, who liked rice, who didn’t. It gave the days a rhythm, and honestly, it felt like they gave more than they took.
Feeding the dogs didn’t change the world. But maybe it made a small corner of it a bit softer.
