After several rewarding years of teaching at the University of Hertfordshire, my final term closed with a high—a truly memorable degree show in the heart of London. We took over the Truman Galleries on Brick Lane, and for a week, the space pulsed with creativity, ambition, and the raw energy of students ready to step into the world.

It was my last year teaching, and in many ways, it felt like the perfect send-off. The show wasn’t just a display of final projects—it was a culmination of effort, growth, and the unique spirit of a cohort that had weathered more than most (yes, including a pandemic). Seeing their work come to life in a public space—bold, thoughtful, and unflinching—was something I won’t forget. I felt proud, nostalgic, and a little envious of their beginning, as my chapter in that role came to a close.
